Who we Serve
↓
Without gainful employment poverty is a near certainty. A justice-involved past can impact employability and income for decades regardless of their skills or level of education. Our focus is to help individuals get hired for the jobs they are selected for and qualified for by addressing employer concerns that arise from background checks.
The children of formerly justice-involved are 3x more likely to live in poverty and are 6x more likely to become justice involved themselves as young adults or adults. The difference in positive vs negative outcomes for families is often tied to household income which is directly related to quality employment. The kind of jobs that require passing a background check and that pay a living wage with benefits. Jobs with room to grow and develop. The kinds of jobs we all want, but for many with a record are out of reach.
Fortasse is unique in the Fair chance and reentry space in that we are not geographically limited… we have no offices, we have no staff except for our dedicated founders. We are addressing the elephant in the room which is employer fear and uncertainty.
Donations and Grants are how we intend to fund these services. Please give today.
Our initial goal is to boost the hiring rate of individuals with a criminal record by just 1% to 2% a year among the hundreds of thousands of deserving candidates. This small movement could mean several thousand more people hired each year. This means fewer Americans on public assistance, less childhood poverty, and a more positive outcome for society.
